31 Day Challenges

31 Day Challenges

Guess what today is?  That’s right!  The first day of August.  I cannot believe how much faster time seems to pass now that I’m a mom.  I swear with each passing day that time speeds up even faster.  All of that aside, let’s chat about this crazy thing that I’m going to do this month.

So I’m sure by now that most everyone has seen the 31 day challenges that circulate periodically on social media.  Well, as I’m currently on a Journey to Health, I figured I should participate in some of them.  Of course, most of them are set up to be done one at a time.  Not for me, I’m a glutton for punishment plus if I’m going to work out I like the whole body burn versus just one body part.

Hype’n Myself Up

I may end up failing miserably, but what is most important is I’m trying.  I have become quite the lazy bones in the past few years.  It is far too easy to be sedentary when you sit for a living.  Personally, I was tired after sitting on my ass all day.  So much so that even thinking about the gym makes me tired.  Thankfully, I’ve been working towards correcting these negative behaviors in an attempt to get my health back in order.

As it stands now I’m down 24 lbs with an undetermined amount left to lose.  While goals are great for focus, I don’t want to just fixate on what the scale or BMI (shudder) says.  I think what the BMI says I should be is too small for my frame, I’m afraid I’ll look sick.  So while I’m on this journey, I’ll re-evaluate monthly how I feel mentally and physically more than just focusing on that number.

Let’s Do This!

Of course, I know that most of the challenges are either 28 or 30 days.  Well, there are 31 days in August so that’s what I’m doing.  If I am able to keep up with this routine that I have tasked upon myself then we will have more to discuss then.  I’m going to have weekly updates stating what I’ve completed or didn’t complete and what presented more of a challenge.  At the end of the month I’ll share everything.  Inches lost across the board as well as any weight loss that I may record.

My main goal is to become more physically active and increase some of my lean muscle mass.  Weight loss while appreciated would only be the icing on the cake.  I will also not be taking ANY kind of supplements at all nor will I be making any major changes to my diet.  I’m still aiming to fewer prepackaged foods and I’m working towards limiting my carb intake.

31 Day Challenges

Let’s get to the fun bits.  Listed below are the 7 challenges that I’m participating in.  For those that are not 31 days, I’ll just be repeating the last day(s) until I reach the end of the month.  Of course I found all of these on Pinterest so I’ll be dropping those links.  Note, none of these links are mine.  Feel free to save them (or follow my board) and participate too!

Game Plan

I wish I had the endurance to say I am going to beast through all of these at a time.  Not going to happen.  Currently I’m about at the level of an asthmatic snail.  Luckily for me being a stay at home mom affords me more leeway in when I can get the exercises done.  I’m going to knock out some in the  morning, some during naptime, and some in the evening.

Everyone had better get a good night’s rest, we’re starting bright and early tomorrow morning! So Summers Closer

    1. That’s beautiful! I don’t know if I could do a half marathon, but it helps to know that others were beginners once too.

I love the idea of these, but then half way through I get lazy.. I should really work on that xD

  8. Love your mentality – what’s most important is trying and giving it a go! I can definitely relate to feeling lazy at the moment. Since moving interstate (and waiting for my new rental and job contract) I’ve been lounging around more than I’d like! Looking forward to jumping back into my yoga and healthy food routine – that’s my biggest fitness goal in the next month. Justine x

  9. I’ve never heard of these challenges!! I’ve recently started my own challenge of doing 20 squats every day… after some time I hope I will be able to build it up!!

    1. I stalked Pinterest for them. 20 squats a day is excellent!

  10. You can do it, just stay focus and determined. I personally need a good detox (food wise) starting from September then I can set myself a reasonable and achievable exercise routine. Best of luck and let us know how you get on.
